McKel's 5th Birthday Party!

My baby turned 5... I can't believe my sweet baby girl is a 5 year old!  I never understood why parents always say, "where does the time go?" until now.  One minute they are a baby and the next they are all grown up!
This girl has such a tender heart.  You think she is tough because of her athleticism and preference for boys' activities and such, but she has such a sweet and sensitive side to her as well.  She looks up to and adores her big sister.  Avril has no idea how much McKel admires her.  McKel is BEYOND excited about having a new baby in the home.  She asks several times a day, "when is the baby coming?" with a huge grin on her face.  She wears her emotions on her sleeve.  If she is happy, she is super exuberant and bouncing with so much joy that it overflows to everyone in the room.  If she is sad, she will definitely let you know it as well.  She tells stories with the most enthusiastic pizazze I've ever seen.  Sometimes she gets going so fast and excitedly you can't even tell what she is saying!
McKel loves any sport, and any superhero.  She loves to wear boy clothes and especially super hero clothes.  Favorites are Batman, Spiderman, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
McKel is also BEYOND excited to start kindergarten.  Another common question is, "but WHEN will I start kindergarten?"  "But that will take forever!  It's not fair!"
McKel is gifted athletically and it shows in whatever sport she tries.  Her favorite sport is probably soccer.  She has tons of energy and is excited to get up every morning and start the day.  I love her to pieces, and I am proud of the girl that she is.  Love you, McKel Kel.
McKel opted for the Jump Around birthday party again this year.  We invited several of her friends from her daycare at the ECEC.  Mom also wanted to make it a photo session with the fancy camera because it is rare that the whole family is together.  So without further ado... here are the pics:
I first took some of the girls at the park by our house, but it was FREEZING outside!

Ballerina

Avril has been taking a ballet class at Tanner Dance at the U.  Many days she doesn't feel like going, but it seems that she's always happy that she went afterwards.  Kind of like exercise is for me!  Anyway, I took a little video of Avril in her dance class:
and point!  Nice work, Av!!

We Are Having A...

The much anticipated day has arrived... the ultrasound to determine the sex of our baby!  This kind of exciting moment makes all the DREADFUL sickness worth it.  This pregnancy has not been easy on me... constant nausea makes it nearly impossible to eat ANY food at all.  Everything is disgusting.  But I power through it because of this little miracle inside me.
We had an appointment at 3:30 pm and when we got there they were running WAY behind.  We waited and waited and waited for what seemed to be an eternity for the most important ultrasound of our life...
Finally when we got there, the ultrasound tech let us know the exciting news.  Our baby was not bashful at all about showing of his man parts!  That's right, we are having a boy!  And we were both over-the-moon excited.  I just had a feeling he was a boy in there.  He is definitely my most active baby, always moving around and flipping.  He was breech, which they said wasn't a big deal at this point.  He was also sucking away the whole time, making a cute little sucky face :)
Beyond excited!!  Can't stop smiling.
Some kind of creepy ghoulish looking shots of his face
he was a little camera shy, trying to put his hand out to block the photo.  Bottom right you can see his man parts!
More photos I don't know what they all are...
legs and footsies
cutie pie man!
our boy!
Can't wait to share the exciting news.  I have never had a boy before and I am slightly terrified of this new adventure.  I feel so lucky to get to experience the joy of a boy!  Now if only we could come up with a name... at least now we can narrow down the options to just boy names.  Can't wait to meet our little man :)

Tree Festival and Santa at the Mall

I was lucky enough to be a volunteer mom on Avril's Festival of Trees field trip.  I just love watching how excited Avril gets when mom shows up for something with her school.  Some day she will likely be embarrassed by mom's appearance, so I try to soak it in while it lasts.  We did a scavenger hunt and tried to find different decorated trees.  Mostly the kids were excited about the treats they bought... figures!
Here come the kids!
This was my group of girls:  Avril, Lily, Logan, and Kate
I found this tree dedicated to a good friend of mine's husband, who passed away.  I took the picture to show her...
Ty Miller's tree...
Avril was THRILLED to find this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ornament.  She insisted that we buy it to surprise McKel for Christmas.  So we did :)

...And after the field trip, why not take the kids to an art show with a meet and greet with Santa?!  The girls were so excited, and this mom loves happy kids!

McKel was a little nervous about meeting Santa.  She told him she didn't know what she wanted for Christmas so he offered to just surprise her :)
