I hesitate to talk about some of these photos because they make me feel like the worst mother on the planet. We were planning to have a photo shoot with sweet baby Keenan and Mike was away for work. I plugged in the hot iron to straighten my hair to get ready for the photo shoot. I put sweet baby Keenan in the baby seat in the bathroom on the floor so that I could get ready while he sat there and watched me. He was being such a good baby, I was super proud of him. There was a knot in the cord of the flat iron that was plugged in, making it difficult to straighten my hair. As I was attempting to undo the knot, the hot iron slipped from my hand and flung down right on to sweet baby Keenan's legs. I heard him scream and instantly grabbed the stupid, horrible iron off of my sweet boy. I comforted baby Keenan and cried and cried at what had happened. I called my friend who was doing the photo shoot and we rescheduled the shoot for another time. I called my husband, and he came home and we took Keenan to the hospital to have the burns on his leg looked at.
I have never been so disappointed with myself. I hurt the most valuable possession I have. He was perfect and I thought I'd ruined his perfection. The burns were pretty bad. I am so sorry, baby sweetest Keenan. I hate to ever talk about this happening because it hurts my heart so very deeply. But I feel like I should post it so that someday Keenan will know why he has a scar on his leg, and so that my kids will know that I am human and make mistakes, and you should never put a baby near something hot that could fall.
Luckily Keenan was a good sport through the whole thing and babies do heal from things quite quickly. So hopefully the scar will be minimal and the pain will subside quickly.
I love my sweet baby so much and I feel beyond horrible that this happened.
