Elf On The Shelf- Day 1

I caved and finally jumped on the Elf On The Shelf bandwagon. I went online and bought a girl version of the Elf On The Shelf, since I have to little sweet girlies. I never could've imagined how much of a hit this Elf On The Shelf doll would be. Last night I read the Elf On The Shelf story to Avril and McKel... all about how she is Santa's little helper and she spies on them to report back and tell Santa who is being naughty and who is being nice. I explained how at night she will hide somewhere in the house and they get to find her every morning. Avril had the biggest grin on her face I'd just about ever seen. After the story was over, she shouted out, "this is going to be the MOST fun EVER!!" And the naughty/nice thing worked like a charm. Avril went straight to bed, no complaints, the quickest I'd ever seen her be quiet in her bed. She wanted to be good for the elf so that all Santa reports would be positive about her.
First thing in the morning, bright and early, Avril popped out of bed and ran in to our bedroom, excitedly asking if she could go look for the Elf. She named her Rebecca. Rebecca...with a middle name of Elf Elf. My creative girl :)
McKel seems to like the idea as well, but is not quite at the level of excitement that Avril has reached.
Here is Avril holding her Elf, Rebecca, after our storytime, before bed:

And this is where she discovered Rebecca the Elf hiding this morning. The Elf decided to try on Avril's snow boots. They were slightly too big :)

Avril finds the Elf!
McKel tries on the new snow boots too!
