Happy Birthday to My Love! (40+1)

While we are living in our tiny little duplex, we obviously don't have a lot of space, which makes for entertaining guests a little difficult.  Still, sometimes we try.  I knew it had been awhile since we'd had a gathering of friends/family, so I thought a little party would be fun to celebrate Mike's birthday.  I made Mike prepare the food for his own party :)  We had a bar-b-que dinner, and yummy cake, of course!
Mike makes the 40's look good :)  Mike always likes to point out that you are actually completing that many years, and beginning the next year.  So he says he is 41, but he is actually starting his 42nd year.  Makes it a little more depressing.  Nevertheless, he is a handsome, fit, amazing dad, and I'm happy he is joining me on this adventure called life.
Love you, sweet hubbsie!
Like the shirt I got him?  "Aged to Perfection"

The cake!  It was delicious...no, I did not make it this time.  I am exhausted constantly with the pregnancy, so the cake was courtesy of Smith's bakery :)

"Is It Time for the Baby Wash??!!"

Those kids really do say the darndest things!  McKel and Avril have been beyond excited for the baby to arrive.  They are just giddy with excitement.  McKel will ask several times a day, how many more days until the baby is coming.  I don't have an exact answer, obviously, but tell her it will be about a month... or whatever the time frame.  This is always followed by a, 'but that will take FOREVER!"  The baby is never coming.  That is too long.  Haha, that's how it feels to me too!  This pregnancy will NEVER be over, just make it end!!
We did tell McKel that we would have a special baby shower for the baby, and that was soon!  So she was very much looking forward to this baby shower.  My friend Sara was kind enough to be the hostess for the event, and put together the whole thing at her house.  But back to McKel... the morning of the event, she came in to our bedroom, bursting with excitement.  She said "mommy, mommy, is it time for the baby wash?!!"
Hahaha, we about died laughing.  The baby wash?  "Yeah, mom, are we going to get to wash the baby?"  Oh dear... she must mean the Baby Shower!!  This kept me laughing all day long.  Thank you McKel, for the laughs...

Coming Soon!!

I can't believe our baby boy will be with us next month!!  This pregnancy has been a difficult one.  I've had to learn how to prick myself and monitor my blood sugar 4 times a day, and I never want to eat food because its disgusting.  Because with gestational diabetes they worry about the baby's size, they did an extra ultrasound to see how baby boy Andrus is growing.  He is measuring slightly larger but no big deal... he is perfect and we are excited to meet him.  This last part of the pregnancy seems to drag on and on.  I am ready to be done!!
a blurry face, sideways...
more pics of baby boy... once the baby gets this big it is hard to get clear images, apparently

Avril's Spring Show

Avril was sooo excited about her school's spring performance.  The kids worked very hard to prepare and learn all the songs.  Avril even had a little speaking part, which she practiced over and over and over at home :)
Here are a few pics and videos from the show:

...AND the video clips:

Avril was so happy to have her family there to watch!

Celebrating A Birthday for Bret! The Big 19!!

One thing I know about Bret is that he appreciates a good cheesecake.  I have some of the most delicious cheesecake recipes, so I love a good reason to try them out.  We were happy to have Bret come have a birthday celebration with us.  He is growing up in to a wonderful young man.  And a tall young man!!  We love you, Bret!

Patricia Parkinson Glenn Funeral Service

Trish was able to plan out her funeral, which is something that is somewhat of a blessing. She was able to plan the speakers, the songs, the casket she wanted, etc. The casket was pink, specially designed for her, in support of Brest Cancer awareness.
The whole experience was surreal to me. It didn't seem right or like it was actually happening. Trish should not be laying in the box, lifeless. Trish was always full of life, with a beautiful smile on her face. They had an open casket before the ceremony. Trish did not look like herself. They did seem to make her sort of smile.
Olivia wrote a beautiful essay about her step mom being her hero. It brought every single person to tears. I know Liv has had an especially hard time with Trish's death.
The funeral services were perfect. All the words that were spoken about Trish showed just what an amazing person she was and what a full life she lived. My heart was aching for the boys, although I don't think they had any comprehension about what was happening.
We sat behind Kelly and the boys during the funeral services and George kept on asking his dad why mommy was in a box, and why people all had papers with their mommy's picture on them. Edison reached out and tried to grab the pink casket as it was carried out by the pallbearers. It was heart breaking.
It was so nice seeing all of my extended family there.  It is not often that we all get to be together.  It is too bad it was under such sad circumstances.
I truly do feel blessed to have been within the circle of people who knew and loved Trish. I am a better person for having had her in my life. I am so sad and confused as to why this had to happen, but I am glad that her suffering is over. Love you, Trish.

It really was a beautiful service.  The siblings got to speak, as well as Kelly.  Mike was one of the pallbearers, per Trish's request.

Back at Grandma Joyce's house I snapped a photo of Jared and cousin Spencer... we had a family luncheon together.  We were also celebrating my mom's birthday, which was the same day as the funeral.  Happy Birthday, mom.

A difficult day...

On the drive back we decided to make a stop in Ogden to see the cemetery where Mike's grandparents are buried.  We took a few photos of the grave sites:
I will have to ask Mike again who they are... interestingly enough, we both have the name Williams in our ancestry.  My mom's maiden name is Williams.  Hopefully we are not related!
